It is with profound sadness that we must inform all members of the school community of the passing of our cherished colleague and friend, Ms Aoife O’Sullivan. Ms O’Sullivan died peacefully early on Saturday morning surrounded by her family following a short illness.
Aoife made an enormous contribution to the life of our school community as a teacher and Caomhnóir and as a colleague since she joined the school in 2016. Her enthusiasm, positivity and indomitable spirit – nowhere more evident than in the courage and grace with which she battled her illness – have enriched all our lives and we have been privileged to work and learn alongside her.
We have offered our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to Ms O’Sullivan’s family and friends on behalf of the entire Ratoath College community and we are most grateful for the many messages of condolence and support we have received.
The school has made arrangements for a number of staff and students to attend Ms O'Sullivan's funeral in Kenmare on Tuesday. As a result of this and as a sign of respect the school will be closed on Tuesday, 11th December. School will open as normal tomorrow (Monday 10th December). We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the understanding and support of all members of the school community at this difficult time. For those wishing to attend, funeral arrangements can be found here.
The school has also activated our Critical Incident Plan and counselling supports are available in the school to students and staff who wish to avail of them.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
