We are all looking forward immensely to welcome all students and staff back to the school building on Monday, 12th April 2021.
Ahead of that, it's worthwhile for all of us to take a little time to remind ourselves of the various processes and procedures in place to make sure that everyone can come to school as safely as possible.
Firstly, we would ask you to fill in the HPSC declaration form before your child returns. Click the button below to fill in the form if you have not dont so already.
Key Messages for Students and Parents
Ahead of our return to school, there are a number of Key Messages the entire school community needs to be aware of:
- First, and foremost, we are really looking forward to welcoming students back and helping them re-engage with learning in school.
Most students will be looking forward to school and meeting up with friends, teachers and other school staff. Many will feel excited, relieved and happy. Some may feel a little anxious and worried about getting back. That’s to be expected and it’s a normal response at a time of transition and change. Most students will settle in over time, as they reconnect with friends and get used once again to school safety routines.
Our school has been working very hard to make sure that the school building and campus are safe for all of the students, teachers and parents.
School staff know that wellbeing is important and needed for learning to happen. We are prioritising the things that we know will promote wellbeing at this time.
School staff know that parents have made great efforts to support their child’s continued education during the remote teaching and learning and that parents have done their best. Teachers will be starting with where every student is at.
Getting back to a school routine, getting enough sleep, eating healthily, taking physical exercise, taking some time to be creative and reconnecting with friends will help everyone to settle back in.
The School Day
The adjusted timetable that was in place before Christmas will continue:
In the morning, the school building will remain closed until 08.20 and students should not arrive before this time.
We expect the car park to be a little busier than usual on the firsy morning back, so please take extra care as needed.
Year groups will continue to finish at staggered times as follows:
- 1st Year - 15.10
- 2nd Year - 15.20
- 3rd Year - 15.30
- TY - 15.00
- 5th Year - 15.20
- 6th Year - 15.30
The School Campus and Building
Students will be returning to the same base rooms they were based in before the school closed at Christmas and each year group will be based in the same location as previously for break and lunchtimes outside.
Most students took their boxes home with them over the period of the school closure. Students should bring their boxes back with them on Monday morning. There will continue to be no access to lockers for the remainder of the year.
Cleaning and Hygiene
The school building has been thoroughly cleaned over the period of the closure and the intensified cleaning in place before Christmas will continue.
It is important that all students continue to engage as positively as they did before the school closure with all the procedures in place to ensure everyone's safety. In particular:
- Wearing a face covering at all times
- Sanitising and washing hands regularly, including on entering and exiting a classroom
- Working with their teachers to ensure desks and chairs are sanitised after use

Resources and Supports for Parents
The DES has produced a range of resources to assist schools, students and parents on the return to school that you may find useful.
If you have any issues, queries or concerns, please contact the school. The most important element of how successful the final term will be for all of us will be how well we are able to work together as a school community to keep everyone safe, well and happy.
